2016:
We are having our AGM on Thursday 20th October in the hall @8pm. We warmly welcome any new volunteers.
Over the past few years, we gave taken part in Art, Model Making, Draughts, Chess, Indoor Soccer, Quiz’s, Talent Competitions, table tennis, Gaelic football, outdoor soccer and swimming to name a few. There are also many other individual and team events that take place that we can get involved in.
If your child /children are interested in joining us, complete a membership form (sent home from school today). Three children from Cappagh participated in the Community Games Finals in Athlone in August and their path started in Cappagh.
We will resume our Fun evening in the hall on Friday 11th November however its continued success depends on people offering some of their time to help with the kids.
Looking forward to seeing some new faces at the AGM…

History:
The inaugural meeting of Cappagh community games was held on Jan 30th 1986 under the chairmanship of Tim Lane with Nita O’ Connell as secretary and Eileen Meehan as treasurer. Funds to get started were supplied by the ICA and Cuman Cultura who both donated £100 each.
Over the years the children have had the opportunity to participate in draughts, handball, table tennis, drama, tag rugby, soccer, football, running, swimming, gymnastics, rounders, basketball, 45 card drive, art, quiz, with varying levels of success. This was made possible by the numerous volunteers who gave their time and expertise to coach the children and the parents who supervised events and ferried teams hither and tither
Many of the competitors came back as youth volunteers to give back to the club.

Community games has contributed in no small way to fostering a spirit of co-operation and pride in our parish, in our children. We hope it will continue for many years to come.
